About This Episode

So the boys in blue have now rocked up, but unfortunately don’t appear to be much help. Please don’t take this the wrong way, I actually think the police would be pretty useful upon the initial zombie outbreak (especially in countries where they are armed), but that’s not going to help the storyline now is it?!

Other News

So we’re at the half way point already, and I’ll be honest not a lots happened yet, but that’s all due to change soon…

Discussion Question

Hopefully the armed forces will be called in to make a swift impact when the Zombie Apocalypse hits, but before they arrive I’d imagine the police are going to have to answer some pretty weird emergency calls. Beyond “a man is eating my neighbour” what kind of weird calls do you think they’ll receive?

  1. Now this made me LOL out so loud. Those bullets are a stroke of genius haha.

I have no idea what the police will hear. But no matter what will happen, they will hear something like; “somebody is in my house with a gun”, or something like that from me. I wont risk them not coming if I’m babbling about Z’s and stuff…

    • I still can’t decide if I like the bullets! I was going for quirky but they might just be verging on corny…

Good point on the call-start babbling about zombies and they will think its a prank call!

      • They do look a little on the “slow” side 🙂 Especially since they are shown whilst the cop is talking.

I wonder how many calls they’ll get before the zombies upset those answering the phones?

        • Yeah – I think I’ll give bullets a miss in the future…

  2. They are not that bad.. actually i didn’t even notice them in the beginning…

  3. The “bam” and bullets made me think of classic Batman. Love them!!

    • Well thats a good thing I guess!

      • totally a good thing. =)

    • Batman, exactly! The font and color on the question/exclamation mark, also the muzzle flash “Bam” that reminds me of a prank gun from the Joker.
It only miss a couple of “Ka-Pows”! The last frame also gives a new meaning to the idiom “bullets are flying”!
      Great setup Mark.

      • Thanks Greg, I’m glad that some people are appreciating the old school comic look!

  4. I would expect a bunch of “peeping tom” type calls.

“Someone is looking in my window and drooling”

There’s going to be two types of people – those that “get” it and wouldn’t call the police and those that don’t and would assume the people are perverts.

And, I definitely think the police (at least certain ones) would be very effective. I know too many (my brother included) who would be thrilled to encounter a ZA. They would probably have our entire town wiped clean before they even got to my house. 🙂

    • Love it “Hi, there are a load of people outside licking my window, its really freaking me out!”

  5. I really like the “BAM” effect, nice visual !

I feel the same as Mark about the bullets, I don’t if I like them or not, depends on how much serious the comic is supposed to be I guess (I mean they look fine it’s supposed to be a funny story).

    • My question would be how serious can a lego comic be?! A twist is coming, and should help the context of whats been presented so far for sure.

      • How serious can a LEGO comic be ? That is IMO an excellent discussion question !

I like the fact that LEGO can be used both ways. Fun with a lot of humour, I also like the fact the story can be really serious.

Those bricks give you so much opportunities only your own imagination (or budget…) will decide what to do with.

  6. About the discussion question, I guess what kind of call the police will receive mostly rely on how sharply can the people describe the situation they are facing.

Hard to be believe they will talk about zombies in the very first place, as you mentioned Mark “a man eating somebody” should be heard again and again…

  7. Do police normally use “please” when encountering a suspect? I thought that word was entirely out of place in the comic, since if someone is attacking another person politeness usually goes right out the window!

    • Must be the British in me – we’re all polite and stuff don’t you know!
