Zombie Cliche Lookout: Prep Work

So you want to sneak out and do some recon in the midst of the zombie apocalypse? Good show, but you should make sure you’re actually prepared for the challenges you’re going to be facing. You might have to fight some zombies. You might get stuck somewhere and need food and water. You might need to treat an injury. You’ll certainly need to evade. Bearing all of this in mind, as well as the ultimate goal of not getting eaten by a zombie, you’ll want to have a handful of necessities with you, but not so much as to slow you down.

Speed and mobility are what you’re shooting for here. There will be things you’d like to have with you that you’ll need to leave behind to save weight. Sure, they would help you out, but it’s simply not worth the trade-off.

About this Episode:

And we’re circling back to the subject of Barb’s big gun. I didn’t want to have her toting that thing around when she’s trying to sneak around, so I figured now is as good a time as any for her to trade up to something a little smaller and lighter.

Other News:

Don’t forget, we’re taking a little break from the regular comic until we return in 2017. But don’t worry, I’ve got a fun guest strip lined up to take us through December.

Also, it you haven’t yet, make sure you enter our book giveaway contest.

Discussion Question: Christmas & New Years

Since this is the last episode for a bit, I figured I might as well ask what everyone is doing for the holidays. And, to keep it a little more on topic, what do you want to see from Bricks of the Dead in 2017?

Obviously, as we discussed, isolating guest strips and restoring the archives are on the menu. Hopefully I can figure that out.

  1. In 2017, I want to see how Murphy and the gang are getting along with Brent’s predicament, and how they’re handling themselves whilst trying to not get themselves infected in the process. After all, Brent will turn sooner or later, and there’s a lot of story potential for disastrous coincidences there! 😉

    • Right you are; we’ll definitely be picking up that story thread next.

  2. Dave, you nerd! Zelda reference for the win!

    • Hah, thanks. I just finished reading Ready Player One, so I was primed for some nerd references.

      • Oooh, I need to add this on the “to read” list – in particular seeing that the audiobook version narrated by Wil Wheaton!

        • That’s the version I just finished, actually. I really enjoyed it.

  3. Explosions…I want to see more explosions.

And more survivors out witting the zeds in abandoned urban areas.

And explosions. Have I mentioned that already? Good, cause I want more explosions.

    • So you want me to dial back on the number of things that get blowed up real good. Got it.

  4. Keep going! Tie your stories loosely in order to get more stories out of them, and show a little of “how this might of happened”.
Also I’ve noticed a lack of over ran military blockades too.

    • I absolutely need to do an overrun blockade. That’s a goldmine for zombie tropes.

  5. So we go on a midseason break, leaving Barb ready to go out… Great cliffhanger!

I’m happy to read you thought about tidying up the site. I’m always happy to read the guest strip and it’s not easy to reach them. BTW I’m really excited that we’ll have a new one this holiday!

Not talking about improvement here, but I wanted to say that even with an obviously busy year, and a small drop in article numbers, you found a good rythm and the website is always full of new stuff. Good work, man!

    • Thank you, sir! Hopefully 2017 will be a little easier.

  6. FUN COMIC,I JUST HAVE ONE QUESTION, WILL YOU HAVE ANOTHER LEGO CONTEST? I THINK I SPEAK FOR ALL OF US WHEN I SAY THAT SO MANY OF US HAVE COOL LEGO BUILDS SITTING BY US AS WE SPEAK. AND PLUS I GIVES ME A REASON TO STAY INSIDE.
