Zombie Cliché Lookout:
The thing about redemption, especially once civilization has come to an end, is that it’s not easy. If you’ve betrayed your friends, you can bet that it’s going to take a hell of a lot to get back in their good graces. Heck, it might just be the death of you. Conversely, if you’ve got a guy in your group who’s just done something incredibly stupid and is now a hair away from getting kicked out, you can probably count on him to bend over backwards to make it right.

Unless of course they’re a badass loner who plays by their own rules, in which case all bets are off.

  1. That’s some awfully heavy redemption. Still, think of all the XP… he’ll be able to try for the “badass loner” prestige class if this goes well. If…

    • What about the prereq? We need to see this guys character sheet Dave!

    • I’m intrigued by the idea of a prestige class. I’ve been out of the RPG space for ages.

  2. It’s like the warning labels on liquids that are dangerous to drink: If it’s got a skull and crossbones on it, it’s not usually safe to drink. What Sam’s about to attempt is no safer than drinking a bottle of poison. 😉

    • Hah, that’s a nice way of putting it.

  3. LMAO at Stew in the first panel 😀 😀

    And do I see a new facial expression in panels 3 & 4? 😉

    • Yep. I can’t recall where that face is from, but I think it’s great.

      • It sure is!

        • My Spidey-Senses tell me they’re from the Hazmat Guy!

        • Indeed so

  4. http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?P=3626bpb548

It’s the face of the hazmat guy! 😀

    I should know, I own one! 😀

    • Oh yeah! It totally is. Thanks BrickVoid.

    • For reasons that shall be revealed later, I hang my head in great shame for not readily recognizing that face as the hazmat guy.

And I think the gorilla one is simply an exhausted look since I’m guessing he is over heated being inside a costume *shrug*

  5. Stew is pretty attached to that hockey helmet

    • Well it is pretty cool.

      • You are right on that one

    • haha… you said “attached”

  6. Wow, more great facial expressions. How many worried faces do you have, Dave? I suppose being a hazmat worker or gorilla-impersonator can be pretty stressful.

As you know, I am a spelling/grammarnazi. And as such, I feel it is my duty to inform you that in today’s cliché, I am fairly certain that:

” you can bet that it’s going to take a hell of a lot to get back in there good graces”

    should be

” you can bet that it’s going to take a hell of a lot to get back in their good graces”

    😉

    • Typo fixed, thanks!

I have quite a few worried/scared expressions. One of these days I’m going to reorganize all my faces so that the “expressive” ones are all in their own drawer and more easily accessible. One day… one day…

Oh, and I think the gorilla suit guy is just hot on account of the suit, not worries. Thankfully, the face works great for a worried character.

  7. I dunno. I think just the fact that Sam is a willing volunteer is enough for him to be spared. Perhaps Murphy’s little buddy is up there…

    • When the great zombiepocolypse is upon us and our zombie overlords walk among us I shall weild my scythe with little mercy when it comes to those such as sam.

      • Hah. Damn, harsh.

        • I think that one of them should dress up as a zombie, like Bill Murray from Zombie Land.

        • oohhhh! I just read something interesting about that.

          http://moviesblog.mtv.com/2010/02/05/zombieland-writers-tell-the-hilarious-story-behind-bill-murrays-bizarre-cameo/

        • Oh, nice find, ZombieMutts! I hadn’t read that one before.

        • I stumbled across it looking for the “rules”

In fact….I think I am going to try to convince my gal to watch this with me tonight. Her first exposure to the genre as an adult (after being traumatized by “Dawn of the Dead” as a child) was The Walking Dead episode 1 which in hindsight was a drastic miscalculation on my part. I sold her on the survivor story with the families and how it wasn’t all about blood & guts… and episode 1 was all about blood & guts which I had forgotten about until 5 minutes in. Right as Rick was stumbling through the rows of corpses outside the hospital I just buried my face in my hands knowing this was going to be a long hour.

        • Hah, well at least you didn’t have her watch the episode called “Guts”, because damn.

        • Actually she was a trooper and fought through the entire series but I am not sure it will ever happen again. Maybe this and Shaun of the Dead….but I don’t think anything like Dead Girl will happen.

        • You could always try Fido. I really dug that one and it’s pretty light on gore and other horror.

        • Ah thats in my netflix queue…I’ll bump that up thanks.

  8. sam was a software devoloper so he probably can calculate the outcome.

    GO SAM WHOOO!

    • Or at least write a script to do so based on a number of configurable variables.

      • Numbers only go so far, we all know calculation of numbers never helped in a Post apocalyptic world before… Unless your book keeping like a boss for a village. Then get to it.

        • I dunno bout’ that…calculating flight plans can make or break a small group.

  9. Ok…..conference call = me officially being caught up now with all 130 episodes.

And with that and the entire story fresh in mine I am hoping Sam lives and Stewart is clearly the problem in the group. Murphy needs to give him a good pistol whipping since Clark isn’t around to do it.

    • Excellent!

I need to find a way to bring Clark back into the story. He was supposed to be just a one off, but I really liked that character.

    • Delete this comment after you read it if you think you want to do something like my suggestion…

But lets say he got lonely and realized he didn’t want to die alone so he tracked the group to the house. Maybe he just misses them and keeps tracking. Could wind off and be a side story until they cross pathes again.

      • I’ve thought about that. I was also thinking it would be a bit poetic for the crew to find the remains of his destroyed camp and nothing more. Maybe something in the middle.

        • That’s interesting. Have to find a way to herd them back in that direction but thats a good story line. Wouldn’t bog down the story either.

Clark is a loner but he isn’t a bad guy. But he would be a good protector if he tracks them and lives, or a good way to show even the toughest are up for grabs in the zombiepocolypse if he dies.

        • Exactly. We’ll see. I’m pretty undecided on the Clark thing since he was never really an integral part of the story.

        • The cool thing is you haven’t cornered yourself with any story line yet. Everything is wide open and thats pretty solid with 130 pages.

But I am keeping an eye on that Stewart…

*gently pats barrell of shotgun with palm*

        • I’m really trying to have an open sort of world. I know where I want to move these characters at some point, but I want them to get lost and found a bit along the way, and I want other characters to intersect with them and maybe tell their own stories.

        • zombiemutts you are talkitive…..like me! 🙂

        • “zombiemutts you are talkitive…..like me”

tyzan8….Its very odd because I am a lurker on the internet for every site I visit and I am not a fan of reading let alone commenting on forums.

But I have such a fascination with the zombiepocolypse topic and that added aspect of being able to directly talk with everyone who is doing something creative such as lego MOCS to the writers of books, it has me being chatty which is very unusual for me.\

        • I’m on the same boat with ya there Mutts. I wouldn’t mind seeing Clark again, some cold hardheartedness(< That word was in correction to Heartedness, so I decide to leave it.) might inspire a leader with in the group. If that isn't going to happen then I enjoy reading this.. Its almost like the view (Not saying this is like the view what so ever) But when watching the view.. I'm always thinking.
"Why am I watching this?" BUT THEN I REMEMBER.. I like to make fun of farm animals.. I mean cows.. I mean respectable women. Any who.. I enjoy reading this comic because its the only good zombie comic out there that has a steady reliable push of new material each week which entertains me. There are some other good artistic Zombie webcomics out there, but they can't put out as much as Dave. (< That sounds awful). So thank you Dave! For not being like those shows on tv, or those other webcomics! You supply me with something to read and ponder on (Not as of late, I'm just waiting to see some one get mauled and killed here soon for teh lolz)… Speaking of something that is suppose to be steady and realiable.. When the hell is The Walking Dead suppose to come back? (I almost said Walker Dead… Walker Dead Ranger. Zombie Chuck Norris.. Were all screwed)

        • Calicade…”October 2011″ is the official word so I guess we can assume its Halloween weekend like last year.

  10. look at the leg goes.. stupid i know…

    jeremy [iZombie]

    • Thanks Jeremy! You’ve got some cool portraits on your site.

        • Get the joke. Its been awhile since I have seen that show.

        • sadly t’s not on much anymore :'(

  12. I still don’t get why they have to have someone take such a big risk instead of just dangling the thing out the balcony.
