Zombie Creation: Cornered

There’s a lot of zombie stuff out there, and most of it is crap. People like to jump on bandwagons and produce quick tie-ins rather than investing love and effort into their creations. Luckily for you, I’m here to help separate the wheat from the chaff. Check back every Thursday, when I’m going to share the coolest zombie-related creation I can find out there on the web.

The Zombie Creation:

This week’s creation by Skinny Boy doesn’t have a title, so I’m calling it “Cornered“, which seems appropriate enough. It’s a single shot, but it’s so brilliantly staged and tells such a great little story I just had to feature it.

So What’s Going On?

Cornered by LEGO Zombies, with no where to run

A few survivors are running from the zombies in a darkened building. Unfortunately for them, they hit the end of the line: boarded up doors. Out of the darkness the zombies approach, and we see them only in shadow.

I always love creations that use old-school scare tactics. This one plays up creepy shadows with maximum effectiveness.

The build quality here is great, considering it’s such a simple MOC. The doors are a highlight for me, particularly the wood grain showing through the windows.

Let’s Talk About the Zombies

We don’t actually get to see the zombies here, but that’s okay. Their shadows approaching from some indeterminate distance creates quite an impact, as does the three survivors’ panicked reactions as they approach. One man freezes in terror, while the other two throw themselves against the door in a futile attempt to escape the inevitable.

Have you seen a great zombie creation out on the web? Are you working on the next great zombie MOC as we speak? Well you had better let us know right away, otherwise we’ll never be able to include it here.

  1. Nice effect! If you want to see something really amazing done with LEGO and shadows you need to check this out.

    • That is amazing. It took me a second to see it, but when I did.. wow.

      • Ha, LEGO is so cool…

        • That it is.

    • Yatkuu… that was super cool!

  2. I love this!! Great lighting and camera angle! The spooky shadows are actually spooky.

    Good job!

    • “The spooky shadows are actually spooky’

Yeah, this would have been easy to do poorly, but it works perfectly here.

  3. Always save the last round for yourself.

    • Yes indeed!

      • The takeaway lesson from The Road?

This is a great vignette, by the way. I don’t think it would work in person; but as a picture, it’s brilliant. I’d like to do things like this.

  4. What I really like about this, is that they didn’t need any zombies, they just used shadows! gonna use that! 🙂

  5. this is epic! I love how the other two survivors look really grey so that the focus is on the other guy, the shadows are awesome too
