Many, many, many Dutch people have Jansen (or Janssen) as a last name these days. The origin of Jansen is “Jan’s zoon” (The son of Jan).
I have the feeling there’s more than meets the eye with this pipe. Maybe the pipe even turns out to be part of the solution, not the problem. Wait and see… wait and see 😀
The crewman with the eye patch is named Joep, but no one says it until later. I went for Dutch names all the way. The captain’s name comes from “king,” and the doctor is named for a seaman.
