Hey everyone, I’m going to dispense with the usual format here and just soak in the accomplishment of reaching the 500 Episode milestone. It might not seem like it, but producing this comic takes a lot of time and dedication, and I’m pretty damn proud to have gotten this far. When I first started this comic a few years ago, this site didn’t exist (the comic was called “LEGO My Brains” and it was hosted on a different site) and I never fathomed I’d continue putting together LEGO comics for very long.
Looking back, it’s amazing how much things have changed. It took me ages to get that first comic together, now I’ve got things pretty streamlined and can knock out an episode in about an hour so long as there isn’t any set building or complex effects involved. I’ve also gotten to be a bit better photographer along the way.
If I had to give credit to any single thing keeping me going over the years, I would confidently say all of you readers. Being able to connect with you awesome people every day has been an absolutely amazing experience, and I count myself as very fortunate to be able to do it. Since I’ve started the comic I’ve developed some fantastic relationships with a lot of you (one person even got me some freelance work, which is pretty cool).
I’ve really loved being able to make something creative like this comic and then get feedback and interact with such a diverse and intelligent group of people. Unlike so many other communities out there, I feel like the readers of Bricks of the Dead are an unusually calm and patient group. Looking back, I don’t think I’ve ever seen a real fight in the discussions here. Sure there have been a few spats here and there, but nothing like I see elsewhere. Hats off to you all.
Also, I like zombies and LEGO, which also helps quite a bit.
So there you go, my first 500 episodes. Thank you all so much for helping me make this happen, and I hope you’ll continue to join me (and spread the word on social media) for the next 500.
Don’t comment very often, But read it every Mon, Wed and Friday’s. Fantastic job! Congrates Dave!
Thank you, TT!
Typo alert, second paragraph: “so long as there isn’t any set building of complex effects involved” Change “of” to “or”. 😀
Same paragraph, last sentence: “a bit better photographer” Change “bit” to “much” – you deserve it! 😀 Sure, there might be errors but hey you got to 500 strips and didn’t have any serious problems putting them all together so you really do deserve praise here! 😉
Fourth paragraph, last sentence: hat’s–>hats. Unless you mean your own hat off to us all, in which case reword it as appropriate! 😀
Sixth paragraph, second sentence: my–>me 😀
Fixed all, except for “a bit”. I’m going to stay humble there. I know I’ve got a ton more to learn.
Continuity alert: In the fourth panel there should be an audible screech of tires and slamming of at least one car door. It amazes me how Brent managed to stealth drive a car all the way up to a log cabin in the middle of the woods! 😀
Hah, well we don’t know how far away they have to park, right?
Brent sure has impeccable timing! XD
That he does.
Wow, you’re all suited up for the occasion!
Making the comic is a lot of work, and the accompanying texts you write must take a long time too sometimes.
Well onwards to the 1000! I know I’ll be around when you reach it.
Thank you, sir!
Well, of all the times to start reading this comic again…
Congratz Dave. Sticking with anything difficult for so long is always impressive, and we fans appreciate it.
Glad to have you back, Bob!
I never did see Dave’s original strips, I wonder if he’s willing to share them with us? While the site itself might be gone I would like to see Dave’s humble beginnings, as it gives me an idea of what he was trying to do before he started this site! 😀
The original strips are the comic. Episodes 1 – 34 I believe.
Congratulations! Quite an achievement.
Thank you, Louise! How goes the migration?
Congratulations on reaching your 500th episode Dave! This looks like a great setup for further story development. Nice suit too 😀
I’m also working my latest forum update right now for the 500 episode special, it’s about what I get quite annoyed about with the whole ‘apocalypse’ trend.
Looking forward to that!
I’ve also updated my Flickr with the new vehicles.
Very nice, TBT!
Thank you, sir!
Congratulations Dave. An awesome accomplishment and an awesome comic. I look forward to reading it every Mon,Wed,Fri and hope to continue enjoying it for a good long time.

The guy with the wrench is Russell, who is also relatively new to the group.
Congrats on reaching the 500th Episode Dave! A nice milestone to reach indeed. Here’s to the next 500!
As Greg say’s Long live BotD.
Great work Dave! 500 is an amazing accomplishment. Right on!
Omg almost thought the new chick was topless or something in the second panel. Silly cup you fooled me
I saw that. I thought the same thing
Huh…. Well then. Quite a long time with so many episodes, oh how the time passes.
Whats next? A kumbaya solo? I wouldn’t mind that.
Achievement unlocked 500! Congrants & such, may you many hits and possibly a kick starter thing either to sell your sets as mass produced or calendars with stuff about the comic.
*may you have… (Autocorrect for every problem)
I think Dave must be taking a break – Episode 501 should be up today but I could totally understand it if Dave felt the need for a day off! 😀
I look forward to 501 whenever it may be! 😉
Nope, the scheduler didn’t work for whatever reason; the episode is up now. Sorry about that.
500 episodes. Well done sir!
You have created something really awesome here as proven by all of us reading and commenting on a regular basis, and we still want more.
