Zombie Cliché Lookout:
In action movies there is often a scene in which our intrepid heroes run into a field of bad guys with guns blazing. For a brief moment it looks like this act of bravado is going to help them win the day, but reality invariably sets in. The enemy, no longer dazed by the suddenness of the attack, realize that numbers are on their side. Of course zombies aren’t able to be surprised, per se, but they can certainly fail to realize that a walking buffet is in their midst until the writer decides it’s time for a dramatic reversal of fortune.
Is there a brush or effect that you use for the bloodspray? I’m curious.
It’s a set of brushes. I actually use two. The older comics have a more realistic look, while the newer ones look more cartoonish. I could email you the packs if you’re interested.
That would be appreciated. I’ve been trying to find a decent blood spatter for my doctored Brikwars pics.
Also, Dave, this is providing some excellent inspirations for an RPG I’m running, and has convinced me to finally read WWZ.
Hey Ross, just sent an email. There are loads of great brush sets out there. I found these by Googling “splatter brushes”, or something to that effect. Took some trial and error, but I’m quite happy with the results.
Glad to be an inspiration. WWZ is a fun book. If you’re looking for something a touch more serious, check out The Road by Cormac McCarthy. It’s one of my favorite books. I’ve read it six or seven times now.
check this out, they are some pretty awesome zombie comics, (their shorts are also great)

anyways, I’m really liking the way this comic is going
I totally agree with you “policy” on firearms and I think this comic is going to be awesome for a long time!
Thanks Isaac!
Great comic; the art style is really cool.
Personally, I think that zombie stories often greatly overestimate the threat that zombies pose. This “horde” only seems to have a dozen zombies at most, which means that if each of our heroes kill three of them, they’re set. And given how pathetic most zombies are, they shouldn’t even break a sweat. With a good weapon, it should just take one person to get them all.
I know what people say; “yeah, but the zombies don’t tire!” – so what? That only matters if you plan on wrestling one, or have to face a truly enormous number. Swatting half a dozen of them, I’m not going to tire either, and I’m not even in particularly great shape.
