America used to get its televised news from trusted anchormen instead of twenty-four hour news channels. These anchors were staunch and unflappable; no story was so horrific as to rob them of their professional poise. Anchors losing their cool on camera is zombie-movie shorthand. This shows the audience just how serious the outbreak has become.
