Episode 726: Perspective

Instead of the normal zombie cliche lookup and episode write-up, I thought I’d do something a little different to do a more in-depth answer to the last episode’s discussion question about what the characters in the comic actually look like. I’ll be covering some of the characters – those that I have a more distinct mental picture for.

Cheryl – Cheryl is short and petite with an athletic build. She carries herself confidently and tends to make strong eye contact with people. She’s pretty, but not overly sexy.

Stewart – Stewart is tall and thin, bordering on being gangly. He is definitely still growing into his body and can be fairly awkward. He tries to act tough, but it’s a thin facade.

Sam – Sam is in his early thirties, middle ages and casual looking. He’s the type of guy that only shaves once a week. Not to look cool, but simply because he doesn’t think about it. His clothes tend to be a little dated, despite making a comfortable living.

Murphy – Murphy is average height with an athletic build. He’s good looking, but intense. In social settings people tend to think he’s stuck up.

Barb – Barb is middle aged, but in good shape from being on her feet all day. She tends to be very direct, and has little patience for people who waste time or panic.

Clark – Clark is a middle aged man who used to be in good shape but has let himself go. He wants very much to be strong and independent, but tends to grossly overestimate his abilities. Clark was a good looking man in his youth, but has aged poorly.

Ted – Ted is the character I have the clearest mental picture of. He was very well groomed with an easy smile. He looked like the cliche of the small town news anchor with delusions of grandeur. He was over average height and build, but has developed a bit of a paunch. His hair had gone gray, and he refused to color it because he thought it made him look more dignified and trustworthy. He had considered getting glasses despite having perfect eyesight.

  1. Typo alert: “a do a more” – Change first “a” to “and”. 😀

Cheryl’s description: overtly–>overly “Overtly” means “openly or publicly”, and she has not yet shown any tendency to be a stripper or sex worker. 😉

Ted’s description should be amended to show that he was alive, but is now dead. 😀

    • Fixed all, thanks!

      • “Instead of the normal zombie cliche lookup and episode write-up, I thought I’d do something a little different to do a more in-depth answer to the last episode’s discussion question about what the characters in the comic actually look like.”

This sentence needs to be rewritten slightly, take out the first “to”, it’s not needed, what is needed is a colon, as follows:

“Instead of the normal zombie cliche lookup and episode write-up, I thought I’d do something a little different: do a more in-depth answer to the last episode’s discussion question about what the characters in the comic actually look like.”

To implicatively says something is yet to be done, especially when used with “do” you don’t want it being an adverb there.

  2. Regarding the zombies, assuming their groans meant anything to their fellow zombies, what do you suppose they’re talking about in this episode?

My guess would be whether they want an arm or a leg of whomever is inside! 😀 I’d like to think they would prefer some part of their victim that’s easier for them to chew on, as it’s very likely that not all zombies have proper teeth with which to bite into their victims.

    • Your comment actually made me think about what these zombies were saying and I came up with this:

A while ago Pre Zombie Flinn walks up to Pre Zombie Amber, “Hey Amber, would you like to, you know…hang out some time…”

Amber: “Heck no! I would rather die first.”

A week passes. Zombified Flinn shambles up to Undead Amber, “Beh” (hey, now that your…you know…DEAD, do you…?)

      Zombified Amber: “Feh” (*exhasperated sigh*)

      • I can’t improve on this. Well done, SPS.

        • Thanks! Of course you realize that my next ten jokes will be horribly lame .w.
