Zombie Cliche Lookout: More Pressing Issues
Day to day, we have a lot of different things competing for our limited time and attention. Work, school, friends, family, hobbies, TV, games… the list goes on and on. Naturally, most of us are lucky enough to live in a pretty safe and comfortable world. The world of the zombie apocalypse will be much different. Rather than deciding to go out with friends after school or doing homework, you’ll likely have to choose between trying to find a safe place to sleep for the night and getting a hold of something to fill your empty stomach, even if it’s only partially.
But when the zombies show up, all bets are off. I don’t care how hungry or tired you are, those things simply won’t take precedence over a shambling horde of bloodthirsty zombies. Now I don’t like missing a meal any more than the rest of you, but it beats the hell out of becoming one yourself, doesn’t it?
About this Episode:
In contrast to Monday’s episode, today I’m well rested and feeling good. In that episode, you might recall, I managed to have zero typos. Today, I’m guessing there will be at least three, because of course there will be.
Discussion Question: Anyone Doing NaNoWriMo?
November is National Novel Writing Month, that time of year when everyone who’s even wanted to write a novel needs to sit down and get to work. The goal is to write a 50,000 word manuscript in the course of the thirty-day month. It’s tough, but very doable. To accomplish this, you just need to write. Don’t goof around with editing, tweaking the plot, or anything that doesn’t move things forward toward your goal. In the end, you’ve got a complete first draft. Sure, it’s short and needs a lot of work, but it’s a first draft, and that’s a hell of a lot more than you had at the end of October.
So I want to know who here is planning on going for it? I’m going to. I did it a couple years ago. It was tough, but I finished and it felt awesome. I’d love to see some of you guys join me.
Typo Alert, About This Episode, second sentence: manager–>managed 😀
As for Dave’s guess, he was over by two, although I really could care less! 😉
Fixed!
I’d rather be under than over at least.
As to what that was, let’s inflate things and say two dozen zombies all trying to jam themselves into a doorway that will barely fit one! 😀
Hah, that conjures up quite the mental image.
And “Nation Novel Writing Month” 😛 not that I’m counting…
Fixed that one as well. That puts me at two (I am counting).
“Probably just a cat”, lol. That joke never gets old!
One of my favorites.
I don’t know why, but I think someone’s gonna die…I dunno, all that Walking Dead made me always prepare for the worst case scenario.
Hah, you never know.
I could use the company and it gives me an excuse to actually put pen to paper (well, the electronic version thereof). So, when do we get to see your book? 😀
Well, let’s see if I can finish it first. 🙂
Oh, what’s your profile? I’ll add you as a writing buddy!
Profile? There’s a webpage? Heck, send me details, pretty please. 🙂
I have done the NaNoWriMo for the last six years. Fun but hard on the wrists. I use the same name there if you are looking for buddies.
Added you as a buddy!

Or, I could just go here… 🙂
