Episode 145

Zombie Cliché Lookout:
You’re scared and in some sort of large building; where’s the best place to hide? If you answered anything other than a maintenance closet of duct work, you’re definitely not paying attention to your clichés. Hiding out in a maintenance closet may be dark, uncomfortable, and smelly, but it’s got its advantages. They never have any windows, even on the door, which helps evade a cursory search. They’re also generally stuffed with all sorts of useful stuff, from noxious chemicals to an array of potential improvised weapons.

the dude person

Hah, she looks pretty contented to be sitting there, in the maintenance closet.

It seems that every time a girl in a horror movie hears something, then stammers, “hello,” the monster of the movie jumps out “unexpectedly” and proceeds to murder them violently. Perhaps that’s the next episode’s cliché! 😉

(And I could have made all sorts of sexuality jokes about her being “in the closet,” but I thought they’d be rather distasteful, and so have refrained from doing so. You can probably blame the “Devil Bear” ads PW is showing right over there, at the moment. -> )

Dave

She does look rather comfortable, doesn’t she? Perhaps I should have made the room dark instead.

PW keeps things interesting.

Randomnessly

I knew we would see that nurse again. Also, where did you get that saw that’s next to the crowbar.

Lich Barrister

I cannot _wait_ for several episodes of “MacGyver”/zombie mashups due to all the improvised weaponry that’s on the way. Why else would she have such a bemused smile on her face?

Digihuman / Someguy

Have you never heard of Zombie Madness? In the event of a zombie crisis, some people’s minds get so strained they go totally mad – they’ll laugh and smile even on the brink of death. It’s like Joker Gas in that sense. (did I just reference Batman? Weeeeird…)

Dave

When the zombies come you’re going to want a closet full of random tools to be pressed into service as weapons. Or, like a machine gun or a lightsaber or something.

the dude person

Hah, it’d be awesome if she found a lightsaber in there! 😉

Digihuman / Someguy

I think the worst part is it’s a door that opens out rather than in – if there’s a zombie on the other side she won’t have a chance to atttempt closing it. But I bet this is gonna be the news team. Then Jeff will bite her.

Silver Fox

I see him too! Took me a bit, but I spotted him.

And so many zombie killing weapons of choice in there. She’s probably smiling over the number of possibilities she has at hand.

Dave

I made the decision to open out instead of in because that would let the light bleed in interestingly. Of course, most interior door open inward.

WJS

Hey, if it opens outwards, it’ll be easier to close and harder to break open. I know if there’s just a flimsy interior door between me and a horde of zombies, I’d prefer it to open towards them. The catch is much more likely to fail than the hinges.

Wow Amazing,Mystrious and Exciting!
Did a bit of researche on Bricklink here are the results.
Next new zombie head?Looks pretty fricking creepy to me naugh!

Pay attention to the number of set’s they’re both in Dave just sayin…
Nice set building in this episode WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY better then some of the weird sets I make…

legomiles

Tool Storage Rooms have so many potential weapons!
Spray Oil+Lighter= Fire-spray gadget
Crowbar= Weapon
Saw=Weapon
Mini-Tools=Strange Poking Device
Drill=Rotating Strange Poking Device
Wrench=Weapon
Unidentified Object in Corner=Unidentified
Sweeping Brushes=Useless
Spade=Weapon
Box=Hiding Place
Push-Trolley=Land-Based Escape Vehicle
Bin=Personal Submarine.Just throw yourself off Beachy Head in a Bin and hope for the best.

Dave

There’s actually quite a bit in the corner, mostly hammers and wrenches.

WJS

OK, “Saw=weapon”?
I’m thinking:
Screwdriver=makeshift stiletto
Brush/broom=quarter-staff

BrickVoid

Maybe she’ll take one look at Jeff and knock him dead – literally! 😀

BrickVoid

Where’s a mad scientific genius when you need one? Either that or some godlike character who can reanimate/resurrect anyone/anything they want? 😉

Adelaide C.F.

The poor nurse would be pretty much screwed if there were zombies instead of our TV studio heroes 😀
Let’s just hope Gene won’t shoot her 😀

Also, I am curious if we’re gonna see some kind of funny moment with the chainsaw…

Dave

The concept of a “funny moment with the chainsaw” is a fantastic one.

Randomnessly

Also, I was half expecting the nurse to be zombiefied when she made her return.

zombiemutts

I think we would know if we lifted up the lids on those buckets

zombiemutts

This comin might make a disturbing left turn if everyone has to hide in there at one time.

oh dear

Dave

Now that you mention it, the prospect of pooping in a bucket has going curiously unexplored in the comic to date.

zombiemutts

One of these days I will successfully slip by an obscure movie reference without you picking up on it.

zombiemutts

Let the record show Mr Burns would have been an acceptable answer to.

Dave

God that was a great episode. What did he call his version of the Spruce Goose again?

zombiemutts

For the life of me I cannot remember. Thanks to DVR’s, ROKU and Netflix my TV habits have totally changed.

zombiemutts

Bah…comment got cut off…I meant to add “so I haven’t seen that show in a long time”

Dave

She hasn’t necessarily been in the closet the whole time. Hospitals are big places, with cafeterias and vending machines available.

Dave

She’s been in the hospital for a few days. Dunno how long she’s been in the storeroom.

BrickVoid

You should try and put how long has transpired so far into the story itself. We tend to think of the story in terms of how many weeks/months/years it’s taken you to get this far. The characters would of course see it from a rather different relative time scale, being in the story itself. Einstein could quite easily prove his theory of relativity if he’d had the resources and technology to make a webcomic! 😀

Dave

A story timeline is a good idea. Not a ton of time has passed here.

Angelina

Is that the nurse that ran off at the begining of the outbreak? That’s a long stay in the closet isn’t it?

brickyman

also they say that there are snakemen in ninjago! that sounds pretty cool

Dave

Snakemen do sound pretty interesting. Perhaps I’ll have to finally pick up a Ninjago set. So far the only thing in them that appealed to me is the old master’s beard and hat.

SWAtminifigGUY

I will never buy a ninjago set. Never. I always hated TCGs and the like.

Tyzan8

TCG?Dude what is that? Now Ninjago is focusing on modern vehicles and it’s pretty awesome.

legomiles

Woop! And I was think of breaking the bank on 7890 and 7045. And a caravan set! Great because you may have seen my camper set stickers are peeling off. I’ve had to sellotape them. Same for my old Harbour set. The stickers are actually cracking and falling off after almost 4 years of being in a poorly insulated shed. Fixing ideas anyone?

legomiles

Oh and another Lego-related problem. Whenever I build, I like to secure the brick in place with my thumb, so I have a sturdy set. but after about 30 minutes my thumbs have stud-shaped grooves in them.
I can actually securely slot a 3×2 brick in the holes. Any ideas to solve this problem?

the dude person

Hah, I hate stud thumb! I used to get it more with Mega-Bloks, though. Somehow, LEGO is softer and more durable…

I know it sounds silly, but the only other solution I can come up with is perhaps using a thimble or gloves to cover your thumbs? Perhaps gauze, or a band-aid? I don’t know, I usually just wait for stud thumb to go away, and only build small amounts at a time.

zombiemutts

Never had it. Hmmm….

Perhaps it comes from so many years of holding video game controllers…

…………………..and stuff …………………

zombiemutts

Its been at least a week since I completely derailed a thread for a random thought so I am feeling itchy…

How Lego and other brands grab the news spotlight
These companies hijack big events, make their brands the story

On Aug. 5, NASA’s Juno spacecraft began its five-year journey to the planet Jupiter. Not generally known to the broader public, there are three “crew members” aboard, and they’ve all signed up for the duration of the trip. These “crew members” are in fact Lego representations of the Roman god Jupiter, his wife Juno, and Galileo Galilei, the Renaissance astronomer who made many important discoveries about our solar system.

The well-planned mission is part of Lego’s “Bricks in Space” program (not to be confused with “Muppets In Space”). A long-standing partnership between the Lego company and NASA has resulted in every space mission carrying numerous Lego sets onboard. This is more than simple product placement. And this is not the first time Lego has demonstrated its skill at insinuating itself into the news.

the dude person

That’s cool, I read about that already in French on Fabjoueauxlego’s site (he commented on “She Awakens” once, and hasn’t been seen around here since… but I checked out his website because his username seemed French…)

And I think you could have ’em Dave, if you had 15,000 bucks. 😉

Tyzan8

Oh neat aliens get to play wiith the little splastic men we have communities around. Those mini-figs look epic!Let’s hope they don’t combust in space.

the dude person

Actually, I’m pretty sure they’re solid aluminum… (At least that’s what I understood from reading the French version)… SO I think they should be relatively safe from combustion!

Dave

If I had 15,000 bucks to blow on LEGO you guys would see some pretty crazy shit in this comic.

Tyzan8

I’m signng up for a new youtube channel soon i will link it into my name soon it would be nce if you would check it out after i’m done there won’t be anything on it for a little while but i will upload stop-motion videos soon.
Oh and which of the weapons in that closet woud you choose?I might take that nailguiun/drill.

Dave

Looking forward to checking it out.

I’d go for a hammer, shovel, or crowbar.

legomiles

”I might take that nailguiun/drill”
I think you mean that strange rotating poking device.

Dave

Yay indeed. Someone with medical training would be worth their weight in gold.

tyzan8

im prett sur mah utubewillsuckidont have sanycameratoshoot but my ddads crapppppt fone

Tyzan8

WHOA WHOA WHOA WHOa WHoa Whoa whoa imposter much? I do have a camera It won’t suck and you’re grammar sucks.I need a gravatar to locjk my identity in.

Tyzan8

Imposter-ating is quite easy to do. 😉

But perhaps what you have is not an impostor… Is there any chance that there’s another Tyzan8 out there? (With a lowercase ‘t,’ of course)

If we do have an impostor-problem on our hands, do you have any enemies or friends that would do such a thing? Or is it a random act of mischief?

Good luck getting a Gravatar, Tyzan. (Speaking to the real one, of course.)

Tyzan8

Not only do I have an imposter I have one with no spacebar! *Moved to new episode too*

zombiemutts

Hey Tyzan…since you’re up to date on all of this would you please let me know when you see the release of the VW van # 10220 is officially for sale in the US? I’ve been waiting to buy this for someone for a long time.

Nikolai

I don’t really care for the VWs. If they were minifig-compatible, I’d but some. But, no.

zombiemutts

Personally I don’t like the sets that aren’t to mini-fig scale either. I almost bought the London Bridge myself until I realized it wasn’t.

Tyzan8

Oh yeah it’s available in October I don’t know why that specific month maybe it’s Volkswagons anniversary?I don’t know.As for mini-fig scale sets that’s of big importance whenever I buy a set.I’ve gotten minifigs to fit in to Creator cars before but when I do it looks really crappy.

legomiles

”I almost bought the London Bridge myself until I realized it wasn’t.”
I actually BOUGHT set 7598 to use in my city. Worst mistake I’ve ever made. It is NOT minifig compatible. Well it is, but it looks pathetic.I’m wondering whether I should sell it (bear in mind I plan on stripping it of it’s useful pieces)
or I should let it just sit there and gather dust.

Dave

Could you imagine a minifig scale London Bridge? People would probably have to get a forth mortgage on their house to afford such a thing, but it’d be glorious!

the dude person

legomiles, I’m sure with something with as many pieces as the London Bridge set you could build an interesting city building, or perhaps a small section of a minifig-scale bridge… In my book, (almost) all pieces are useful!

Tyzan8

Dave help I can’t get a Gravatar 🙁 it just taakes me to where i enetr my email the i enter it and i get nothing. 🙁

the dude person

That’s quite strange, I wonder why it won’t work? Are you sure you’re doing everything correctly?

Dave

Sounds like it might be going into a spam or junk folder. Have you tried those? Also, what browser are you using?
