Hey everyone, I’ve got some fairly substantial news that’s going to impact the comic. Don’t worry, Bricks of the Dead isn’t going away or anything like that, but there are going to be some changes.
What’s Happening?
On Friday, I accepted a new position at my company that is going to require a significant increase in the amount of time I spend at the office, as well as some travelling. This is something I’ve been working toward for several years now, and I am extremely excited about my new role and the opportunities it will afford my family.
That said, there is a downside. With this new job, I will have less time to work on the comic and other activities. I’m not going to stop doing Bricks of the Dead. I love the comic, I love the hobby, and I love interacting with all you guys. What I will have to do, however, is update less frequently.
At this point I’m not sure what I will be capable of doing, so I’m not announcing anything definite yet. Odds are, I will no longer do zombie creations and reviews every week, but as time allows. I also expect I will need to cut the comic back from three times a week to two.
You Can Help!
If any of you are interested in contributing content to the site, please let me know. I would love to continue to have something new on the site five days a week, and if I had a couple volunteers I’m confident I could do that. If you have any interest, please don’t be shy.
Also, if you have any questions, don’t hesitate to ask. I’m not sure how things are going to shake out at this point, but I’ll do my best to answer you.
Again, the comic isn’t going away, but it will likely update a little less frequently. I know that sucks, and I’m sorry.
First: Congratulations! I sincerely hope that this transition will be an awesome one for you and your family. Enjoy the travels.
Second: Just as important – Thank you for all the work you’ve done at BoD. Always enjoyable, everything about it rocks. I look forward to seeing how your new experiences will fuel your wacky imagination!
Thanks Luis! I really appreciate it.
congratulations Dave
Thanks!
Congratulations! That really does sound exciting!
You’re going for the best option. Trying to keep up like you’re doing now combined with a very busy job will only get you frustrated, you have to keep it fun for yourself, so it will stay fun for us too.
Sooo, best of luck in your new job, and we’ll be here, waiting… patiently ! 😉
That’s what I was thinking. My wife and I sat down and talked through a lot of this stuff. I’m giving up a couple of my other side things too.
I think it is a great opportunity for you even if it means putting a little less time aside for the comic- 3 episodes, a review & a featured MOC must be difficult to fit around home & work.
And I’m sure Bricks of the Dead readers will look forward to making some weekly contributions to the site! 😀
I really hope they are; that gives me cool stuff to read too.
Huge congratulations for moving on up, as the kids say (they still say that, right?). Hope it’s everything you’d planned. 🙂
And if anyone’s going to whine and complain about the fact that the entertaining webcomic you’ve been doing for free all these years is going to be a little slower now, tell them to @# %!X$ &** }{@$ ^#%!!!
(can we say that here? It’s a family strip, right…?)
Thanks (not) Pete!
And yeah, I’m fine with swearing in the comments. I just try to keep the comics themselves PG13 or so.
Congrats Dave. Your schedule was insane anyway! 2 times a week is still a good rhythm to be fair. I’m sure you’ll deal with this in a great way without altering the quality of your website.
Thanks pi3rk! That’s exactly what I’m looking for: balance.
Well, it was good while it lasted! 😀 Has your boss seen the amount of work you put into your site and the effort that’s gone into it thus far? Even considering your leg accident, you’ve been doing an amazing job so far! 😀 I’d also like to hear from your boss, so if they’re willing to leave a comment here they’re certainly welcome to do so! 😀
Hah, no my boss hasn’t seen the comic. I think it might make them rethink promoting me 🙂
You should be okay if you’re not running from the prospect of them discovering your site! 😉 Maybe your boss does read your comic but prefers to be an invisible lurker! 😉
You never know. If that’s the case, hi boss!
Well, kudos for your new position. Hopefully it’ll bring you happiness. Don’t worry about the comic, we’ll all still enjoy it very much!
Much appreciated!
Congratulations Dave! Best of luck in your new career path. As far as the comic goes, do what you can when you can. We’ll be here
Will do, and thank you!
Congratulations! I’m sad for us readers (you’ve spoiled us), but very happy for you. 🙂
Congratulations Dave,
Well deserved I’d say based on the quality of this website and comic.
Good luck with the new role and I’ll keep checking in each week, and when I get some more Lego sets, I’ll be happy to write up some more reviews for you.
