LEGO Zombie Creation: Death Bus

There’s a lot of zombie stuff out there, and most of it is crap. People like to jump on bandwagons and produce quick tie-ins rather than investing love and effort into their creations. Luckily for you, I’m here to help separate the wheat from the chaff. Check back every Thursday, when I’m going to share the coolest zombie-related creation I can find out there on the web.

The Zombie Creation:

This week’s LEGO Zombie creation, “Death Bus” by Steam Pirate, which I chose because it’s a pretty awesome piece of inspiration for our soon-to-be-expiring Double-Down Challenge, at least as far as the anti-zombie vehicle category goes.

Death Bus - A LEGO Zombie Creation

So What’s Going On?

What I like about this creation is that it feels like a catalog shot rather than a vignette. Let me explain: this looks like the type of photo you would see in an advertisement for the death bus instead of a little scene demonstrating the death bus in action. I can’t really explain why, but that really appeals to me. I normally decry the commercialization of zombies, and this makes it feel like a pretty spot-on parody of that.

Let’s Talk About the Zombies

Continuing with the catalog shot approach, these zombies are clearly actors. Why is that? Well, because they don’t look quite right. One of them is holding a tool or weapon, and both look more akin to orc-like monsters than zombies. In my mind, the make-up and costume department for this advertisement didn’t have a lot to work with, and this was the best thing they came up with.

I know I’m reading way too much into this, but that’s what makes it fun.

Have you seen a great zombie creation out on the web? Are you working on the next great zombie MOC as we speak? Well you had better let us know right away, otherwise we’ll never be able to include it here.
