LEGO Zombie Creation: The Blocking Dead

There’s a lot of zombie stuff out there, and most of it is crap. People like to jump on bandwagons and produce quick tie-ins rather than investing love and effort into their creations. Luckily for you, I’m here to help separate the wheat from the chaff. Check back every Thursday, when I’m going to share the coolest zombie-related creation I can find out there on the web.

The Zombie Creation:

This week’s LEGO Zombie creation, “The Blocking Dead” by Andrew Gagnon, is quite an interesting thing. It’s a motion comic, the first LEGO motion comic I’ve ever seen. It’s also a parody of The Walking Dead, with some pretty great humor throughout. Check it out:

So What’s Going On?

Just like the beginning of The Walking Dead, we start in a hospital room with a man waking from a coma to find that the world has been completely overrun by zombies. Unlike Rick, Andrew in The Blocking Dead is completely out of his league; luckily, his heavily armed son Conner is there to guide him along and explain how the world works now. Along the way, we get a lot of jokes that play on zombie cliches, and an attack on America’s Greatest City, Detroit.

Let’s Talk About the Zombies

Do we really call them zombies? No one says that. Let’s say “biters”, or “walkers”, maybe even “gummers” if they can’t bite.

At any rate, the zombies here are based clearly on The Walking Dead, which means they’re slow shamblers. It also means that characters have to come up with a bunch of stupid names to refer to them as in order to get around the word “zombie”.

Have you seen a great zombie creation out on the web? Are you working on the next great zombie MOC as we speak? Well you had better let us know right away, otherwise we’ll never be able to include it here.

Mad..

Nice find Dave, this is great. Had several chuckles while watching it. I like the “holes” in the script and the fact they really aren’t taking themselves seriously.

They must have a lot of fun putting this together.

Oh and the zombie fight scene, felt like an 80s action flick…. awesome 🙂
