A Brief Delay

Hey guys, I’m afraid Monday’s comic is going to be a little late.I know, I know, that sucks.

So why, exactly, is the comic going to be late? Well, I hurt myself. Pretty badly, actually. On Friday night I slipped on ice and fell on my foot, which twisted around about 180 degrees. Not good. I went in for x-rays yesterday and found out that I broke both my tibia and my fibula (the two bones in your lower leg). Not only that, but the fibula break is a spiral fracture. Nice, eh?

So I’m a bit out of commission until Monday, when I’ll hopefully be able to make my way down into my office to get us caught up on the comic.

I apologize for the delay, especially since I’m going on hiatus very soon.

Strange.. I fucked up my ankle and really hurt my back yesterday picking up a porch. Sorry to hear your foot took a 180 for the worse.

Holy Z Word! You just get better and rest instead of doing the comic! A spiral fracture that is 180 degree twisted?! Boy, I hope u get better.

Louise

And the Winter Olympic Gold Medal for Most Painful Fracture on Ice goes to Dave, representing Bricks of the Dead.

His inspired 180 degree double-fracture, with spiral-fracture finish on the fibula won over the judges who awarded him a perfect score. ๐Ÿ˜€

Get better soon, Dave!

BrickVoid

Don’t tell me let me guess, you got into an argument with the LEGO actor who plays Sam and had a disagreement on how Monday’s comic should proceed! ๐Ÿ˜€

Seriously, though, how do you expect to do heavy duty moving tasks with those injuries? I don’t see how you’re going to manage both webcomics and moving while those bones heal and they will take time to heal. I would therefore suggest you concentrate on moving, it may take you a bit longer but don’t worry we understand what has happened, and will be forgiving of delays caused by this. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Dave

Hah, that would make for a lot cooler story, but no. I feel when I was getting the mail. Oy.

Unfortunately, I won’t be doing any heavy moving at all. My wife isn’t too happy about that ๐Ÿ™‚

BrickVoid

You “feel” when you were getting the mail? Typos still happen, apparently! ๐Ÿ˜‰ Did you hire movers or friends who like lifting heavy furniture to do the moving for you? It might cost a little more but most good professional movers will offer packing services at a small extra cost! ๐Ÿ˜€

Dave

Hah, old habits die hard.

We had a pretty good group of helpers before I hurt myself, and since then I’ve have two more buddies volunteer. I think we’ll be good to go, but I feel guilty about not being able to help. Sure does feel good having people who I can count on to help me out though.

Packing isn’t so much of a problem; we’ve actually been working on that for a while now. We’ve been moving a bit too; I had actually just gotten back from moving furniture when I fell.

Only 1 phrase springs to mind and it rymes with ‘clucking bell’ Get yourself fixed and moved, us BOTD fans will still be here when you return! Priority is get better.

Siabur

Cool. We now have someone to sacrifice durring a herd of zombies roaming around. Get better fast cuz slow would suck.

BrickVoid

The zombies wouldn’t eat Dave, because there’s only one thing worse than a zombie after fresh meat! A zombie autograph hound after Dave’s autograph! They never stop asking! ๐Ÿ˜‰

Mark

Dude – that sucks! Fingers crossed the ZA doesn’t start anytime soon as I’m not sure running would be the best tactic for you at the moment!

On the plus side, if your out of commission/stuck on your ass then that’s more lego time surely?!?!!

Dave

Running isn’t my strong suit to begin with, but now I’m really screwed.

I might have more LEGO time, although most of it is packed up, and my office is in the basement, which is tough.

BeeGeeDee

Forget the comic…we can live without one for a few days (barely) – just take it easy and rest the leg.

Dave

I’m in my office sitting on my ass anyway; I can knock out a few comics.

Foolish Lego

Sounds like a good job, if you can make some comics in your office ๐Ÿ˜‰

Dave

I work from home most of the time (I commute into my real office about once a week). My home office is also my LEGO room. It’s kind of awesome.

Foolish Lego

Oh my Dave! That sounds pretty awful. Whatever you do, give your bones time to heal properly, you’ll be thankful for that later.

On the bright side; I just thought of another “worst time for a Zombie-outbreak”-moment… ๐Ÿ˜›

Dave

Yeah, my wife won’t let me do much of anything. I’m definitely babying it to let it heal up.

“On the bright side; I just thought of another โ€œworst time for a Zombie-outbreakโ€-momentโ€ฆ” – HAH! You got that right!
