Zombie Creation: Red Star

There’s a lot of zombie stuff out there, and most of it is crap. People like to jump on bandwagons and produce quick tie-ins rather than investing love and effort into their creations. Luckily for you, I’m here to help separate the wheat from the chaff. Check back every Thursday, when I’m going to share the coolest zombie-related creation I can find out there on the web.

The Zombie Creation:

This week’s LEGO Zombie creation, “Red Star” from Wayside Creations, isn’t really a LEGO zombie creation at all. It’s a live action fan film inspired by the Fallout games, and it’s all kinds of awesome.

So What’s Going On?

Okay, so I’ll admit I’m straying a bit here from our core concept of featuring super cool zombie-related LEGO builds. But last week I did a Fallout themed build, which got me digging around the web for more super cool Fallout stuff. When I found “Red Star” I knew I’d just have to share it, even if there were no zombies or LEGO involved at all.

The story is a fairly simple Fallout-style quest. Our gritty ranger hero helps a lady track down her daughter, who was sold into slavery. There’s lots of great action along the way.

What really gets me about “Red Star” is the production quality. This isn’t a fan film in the way I’d think of it. It’s got real actors, real props, and real effects. Everything looks incredibly professional, especially the cinematography. The only thing that was a little rough was the super-mutant, but I still have to say hat’s off for the incredible effort there.

Let’s Talk About the Zombies

Okay, so no zombies. Sorry. I promise this will be the last of my little Fallout tangent. Next week we’ll totally have a bunch of zombies eating people’s faces.

Have you seen a great zombie creation out on the web? Are you working on the next great zombie MOC as we speak? Well you had better let us know right away, otherwise we’ll never be able to include it here.

Forewarning: this is a longer video at 25 minutes, but it’s well worth checking out. Even if you’re not a Fallout fan, it’s cool just to see the production values at work here.

Agreed, and thank you, Dave. The props in particular were lovingly and beautifully created. They really understood the art of the Fallout franchise.

I’m still stunned at how awesome that laser rifle looks. It looks like they ripped it right out of the game.

I had actually already watched this, and as a Fallout fan I had quite a good time watching this fan made material. It’s well done and I have to give it up to the fact that they were able to pull off what they did with what they had available.
