Misc. News:
Since Monday is a holiday in the US we won’t have a comic. I know that bums a lot of you out, especially those of you outside the US who still have to report to school/work/prison that day. However, you can look forward to a biggish announcement on Wednesday for our 150th episode. So there’s that.

Zombie Cliché Lookout:
When a character gets bitten, there’s nothing to be done. At some point in the immediate future, they will die. And then they will turn into a zombie and try to eat your face. With that knowledge in hand, it’s hard to look at them as a person anymore; the infected are time bombs, quietly ticking away while the rest of your party does their best to make it through this craziness alive. That’s all well and good, except for the guy who’s sitting around waiting to die. Not only does he have his impending demise to content with, but his former companions no longer treat him the same. It’s really not a great situation to be in.

  1. That nurse seems to almost be gleefully proclaiming Jeff’s doom in the 3rd panel. It’s kind of awesome.

At least we know she doesn’t care about other people in general – meaning she can be trusted somewhat as a logical member of the group.

    • You have to love cold, cold logic.

    • Mr. Spock approves.

      • I’ll bet he does

    • Back! I have a shovel and I know how to use it!

      • Hah

  2. Since someone did this last episode… I have to, it works perfectly.

    Red vs. Blue reference:
Tucker: OH MY GOD! It looks like one of those red guys just shot Church! Should we help him?
Caboose: Eeeeehhhh I don’t know… I can’t really get a good shot at Church from up here.

Sorry 😉 it had to be done.

    • Estoy de acuerdo en el hombre

    • That’s actually quite funny. I may have to check out this Red versus Blue at some point.

      • You can find most of the older ones on the YouTube channel “RoosterTeeth”.
And don’t worry about Halo in-jokes, they’re few and far between. Most of the humor is either self-referential (especially in later seasons) or pop culture related.
I have several friends who have never played a game of Halo in their lives who absolutely love RvB. The only prerequisite to enjoying the show is you have to like off-beat, and often off-color, humor. I think they directly reference the game story a small handful of times, otherwise as long as you understand that Halo takes place in the future on a giant doughnut in space, you know as much as you need to.

        • So I can safely assume that this giant donut is the titular “Halo”?

        • Correct. Chocolate to be specific.

      • Its very funny. As long as you don’t mind “strong language.” I’m already on season 2

  3. The nurse doesn’t seem to like Jeff very much. I guess she’s either zombieist (KInda like racist, but against zombies) or zombiphobic (Afraid of zombies).

    • Perhaps some therapy could help her come to accept her undead brothers and sisters.

      • This is another thing that is covered by brain eaters anonymous. We help familie assimilate into becoming a Zombie – friendly family.

        • families, sorry.

        • That’s just creepy as hell, A Monkey. I love it!

  4. Whoa up there… you’re not a zombiphiliac, are you? Talk about monotonous…er, conversation.

    • Ooops, this is a reply to Random… Darned touch screen…

      • I hate when that happens, although when I do it, I do it on a a regular computer with a mouse. At least you have an excuse.

  5. Well, the nurse seems to have ruled out most conventional ways of solving this situation.

Of course, Dave could always come up with a unique and new twist on zombification! 😀

    • Maybe having a good heart with save Jeff.

  6. After he turns I get his chainsaw. For the gas. Not for the chainsaw. The nurse I’d kinda down to earth(?) About jeff(?) Becoming a zombie. Don’t know if i like her in the group. I like steve though. That’s his name right? Steve?

    • Well you have to remember the nurse has been trapped in the hospital and has seen friends and coworkers devoured by these creatures. She’s a bit freaked out.

No Steve. Gene is the fellow in the khaki shirt, and Ted is the newscaster.

      • Maybe later on in the story, Jeff could give the nurse his chainsaw, and later on, they could use it to fuel up an ambulance and escape! After raiding all the food and medical supplies.

Unrelated: What I don’t like about the nurse minifigure is those annoying black bits at the sides. what are they for? Why can’t the Lego Company print it like a regular minifigure?

        • I believe those black marks are to show a narrow waist and hips.

  7. Aww… Now I feel bad for Jeff! Still, he’s a zombie, so I don’t feel that bad. Also, I have to go back to prison without any BotD? Dang nammit!

    • We’ll have a new episode up on Wednesday, so try not to get shivved in the meantime.

  8. No! Jeff! Jeff is my favortie character, Dave, you CAN’T kill him off. Of course, Jeff can come over and work at News 6, if he wants. We’re an equal oppurtunity employer. Regardless of race, sex, disability, or… uh… zombification, you can work at News 6.

    • I like Jeff too, but he should have been more careful.

If you’d like to use Jeff as a guest appearance on News 6, go for it. I’d rather he not be a permanent character though.

      • I’d love to see Jeff do an interview on News 6!

“This man has a truly incredible story. Jeff used to work at a local news station, but was bitten by a zombie. Tell us Jeff, has recovery been a long, difficult process?”

        “Ughh…”

“On an unrelated note, what do you like in a woman?”

        “Ungh… brains!”

        • This sounds awesome!

        • I have an idea – He can be “interviewed” after you, Dave, with questions like: Dave says X, y, and Z. What are your thoughts, as a character/killed off character?

        • That sounds like a workable idea to me.

        • Shirtless

        • Hah!

  9. “However, you can look forward to a biggish announcement on Wednesday for our 150th episode. So there’s that.”

    Speculation time.

    Return character?
    New character?
Dave receales he is really a women?

    • Anything is possible. Let the rampant speculation begin!

      • Merchandising, merchandising, where the real money from the comic is made!

        • Whatever it is BOTD looks great on my tv. I’m viewing via Wii internet channel and let me tell you it looks great on the bigscreen just sayin.

        • Ohh I know what it is Dave admits that he is indeed a tiny plastic man living in a tiny plastic house making a webcomic with actors and trained zombies!(I’m suprised I need to say I’m joking you know me right?)

        • That would be a hell of a twist.

        • Could Dave be upgrading to more than 2 comics a week? It’s a possibility.
Lots of new things are going in my Ada-May, my city. For example, my Dave minifigure just declared The Funky Mountain Graveyard of the People open for business (?), and I’m tossing round an idea for a seafood restaurant called Jules’ Fresh Crawfish, which cooks fresh fish delivered from a fishing boat out back! In Ada-May, everything has a story to tell!

        • Funky Mountain Graveyard? Now that sounds interesting.

  10. XD lol Stay BACK!…*calm chatter to the others* Jeff: But- “STAY BACK!!! XD

    • She’s just trying to be professional.

  11. I have a shovel and im sorta not sure if it can kill you. Here let’s see

    • I’ll bet I could put the hurt on someone pretty good with a shovel.

      • You could put the hurt on someone but you need the kill on someone.

  12. Darg I have played halo and that’s the storyline they’re on a donut in space in the future and they fight then the eat the donut and they find a new space donut. This storyline repeats for around 12 games.(Kidding jeez glad we have no die-hard halo fans that would suck)

    • Aww crap suppossed to be a reply to Darg.I hate how finicky my phone is!

      • Meh, it happens.

  13. “Lego sales jump 25pc thanks to minifigs and Ninjago
Lego, the toy company, has reported a 25pc increase in half-year sales as children and their parents snapped up Lego’s latest minifigs and its new Ninjago game. ”

    http://www.telegraph.co.uk/finance/newsbysector/retailandconsumer/8731022/Lego-sales-jump-25pc-thanks-to-minifigs-and-Ninjago.html

Looks like mini figs will be around for a long time.

    • Wow, I imagine you’re right.

      • Minifigures are really expensive, unless you know what you’re looking for. I can identify a minifigure in about 10 seconds. Me and my friend have races to see who is best! But once I was in town and some kid came up to the counter and had a ‘lucky dip’ in the minifigs box. Not my preferred choice of selection.

  14. This really isn’t worth commenting on- but I always use that red bush in the background for exploding heads and whatnot. It’s rather offputting in the set, and yet as a result makes me grin whenever I see it.

I apparently can’t be bothered to go and look- but is this the nurse from the Patient Zero scene? If so, what a trip.

    • I’ve actually used that exact red bush (I’ve only got one) for an exploding head in this very comic.

And yes, that is indeed the nurse from the flashback that started back in Episode 100.

  15. You’ve probably already noticed this, but Jeff’s hands are two different colors. Not a problem, I just felt like commenting on it. Also, L4D or L4D 2?

    • One hand was bitten and has dried blood on it, which is why it’s brown. The other is just grey from the infection.

      • Ah, I can see (cleeeearly nooooow!!!)

        • Oh, and I have both L4Ds. I don’t play either terribly often, but when I do it’s the second one because I like the hand-to-hand weapons.

        • Oh yeah! I don’t care for L4D 1. The graphics aren’t that good, and the characters almost never talk unless it’s about Peels.

      • What peels?

        • Like the way Louis says it. “We got PEELS here!!”

          http://30.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_ku53csYO061qz5ajwo1_400.jpg

        • Oh right, PILLS. Now I get it.

  16. I’m quite sure now that fish is dead. It hasn’t moved.

    • He’ll be missed. Prepare the toilet.

  17. Next Strip idea:

    *Clang*

  18. you can’t kill off jeff right after you kill off shannon!

    • hay zonHey zombies are cruel man don’t balme Dave it’s not his fualt it’s the zombie’s fualt for biting them.

    • I can kill off whoever I want 🙂

  19. Hmm…not to sound mean but L4D is kinda weird mainly becuase of the special (and annoying as having a dumb roommate) zombies.I mean how did they mutate from “Braaiiinnnsss….” to “I’m a boss zombie that takes days to defeat there are alot of me around the city I can knock over buildings.” ? What? And another thing how did the outbreak happen?I mean they never really got into that although some characters know how it happened. Also (most of) the characters are supposed to be your everyday people how can they use guns?I mean I understand Bill’s a milatary vet and Francis might be some kind of assasin or some but what about Lois and Chloe?or the new L4D2 people they’re all avarage people. And whats with that week or so you spend trying to move that truck walk around it guys!Jeez it’s like charaters have no common sense anymore.See this is why I like nazi zombies all the background stories (except maybe in the map five) check out for example Dempsey is a us soilder gone MIA to help out the group,Richtofen is a russian siencetist give the task to make new weapons,Takeo is an ex-Chinese soilder that’s all I know about him and Nikoli is a russian milatary commender.well anyway sorry for this long rant bye!

    • Richtofen is a Nazi lol, The theory is that whatever made them turn mutates them…Look up alpha zombies, The fact that there are different kinds of zombies in games creates more of a challenge in which players must cooperate in order to kill them…The outbreak was never explained but it was a gas so probably a government fail…The whole point for moving the trucck is that it’s an objective to make it harder, You have a mission when you have to refuel a car which has loads of convenient fuel boxes near it…like when is that going to happen? When playing a game or watching a film, if it’s not based on real life then there probably isn’t a shred of reality in it. What I’m getting at is, games are games, if the zombie apocalypse comes grab what you can, flee out of urban zones and hope that your far enough away so the goverment won’t nuke you…

      • The outbreak was explained in the background of the story. It’s complicated I can’t explain on the spot.

    • I’m a total nerd and hate when people talk about nazi zombies wrong. Takeo is Japanese and the whole virus spread through the element 115 that the Germans were work on. The whole thing is to blame richtofen and ludivig maxis. Yea 1 point for the nerds. B**** get the plates cause you got served.

      • ? No sexism please and Also I wasn’t explaining the Nazi Zombies Backstory…

        • He was also only explaining character profiles…he himself wasn’t talking about the meteorites that came down with element 115 in them…

        • It wasn’t sexism. Anybody who I serve I call that. Plus I just watched zombieland right before the comment and after that I got in a fight. I was pumped

    • On the subject of Left 4 Dead, they’re fun, but I wish you could tweak some of the fundamentals of the game. Like a Romero mode, with no specials, only slow zeds, and all kills requiring a headshot. I’d play the bejesus out of that.

      • THAT…WOULD…BE…AWESOME! I was actually thinking of a video game design just like that! It’ll be called…uh…umm…er…can’t think of it right now. B^P

(What ya think of the new face?)

        • Wouldn’t it?

I’m not seeing a new face.

        • I love that idea, Dave! And maybe the only weapons are the Pump-Shotguns, M1911(s), Hunting Rifle, and the occasional M16? I’ve gotta drop Valve a line on that! Also, I’ve started Mini-Man Armory over at Shape Ways. Any suggestions?

        • I’m not sure what a Mini-Man Armory is. If it’s minifig compatible weapons (which is how it looks on a Google search), I’d love to see more civilian-oriented weapon: pump and double-barreled shotguns, dear rifles, and normal (i.e. non-tacti-cool) handguns like regular old glock 17s, revolvers, etc.

        • Yes, it is. I have a Glock and Revolver planned, and I just released a Shotgun. I also have a Scoped M1A1 Carbine in the works.

  20. Gah that said it would be a reply UGH!Frickin finicky phone!

  21. Hey zombies are cruel man don’t balme Dave it’s not his fualt it’s the zombie’s fualt for biting them.(typo fix delete above me)

    • *Fault
You should have written it like this:
“Hey man, don’t blame Dave. The fact is zombies are cruel, and Dave had no partake in the biting of characters…It’s all the zombies’ fault!!!

  22. Dead island in 2 DAYS. Yes yes yes yes yes oh and f*** yes. Sorry for my language but I just watched zombieland and I love Tallahassee.

    • I will be getting this on the 14th hopefully, on my birthday 🙂

      • Dave is there a age limit on this sight to comment? My friends 12 year old son wants to join.

        • No age limit that I know of. The comic has gore and occasional swearing through, so bear that in mind.

  23. Or in episode 150we see Sam dancing with the zombies to Sams favorite polka song that would be a really big suprise.

    • We’ll find out tomorrow, won’t we?

  24. Any of you fellow LEGO lovers built or at least seen both the cafe corner and fire brigade? I have a couple questions that I rather ask here than shuffling over to bl where the thread will likely end up turning into an argument over shipping issues or paypal fees….

    • Built both, and I see them every day on my computer desk.

      • Ah…have wee seen fire brigade in the strip? Didn’t know you had that one.

I am working on Fire Brigade….second story the color of the dark reddish-brown bricks…is that the color of Café Corner? If so, I guess I don’t understand the scarcity issue of Café Corner or is it a modified set of bricks unique to CC?

        • I believe it’s the same color, but I can check (and then have my wife verify since I’m color blind) tonight.

I thought – and I could be way off base here – that the color scarcity issue on Cafe Corner was only with the pieces that make up the roof.

        • No worries and no need to bother but thank you. I think you’re right and I can check that on BL inventory now that you pointed me in the right direction. Well if that’s the case I can just make the roof black. I have been holding off since I couldn’t figure out what color to change the wall brick walls out with.

And with this thread I now realize how deep my nerdness level has gone. I would also like to point out I have seen the entire Battle Star Galactica series (twice) and StarGate series (all variations).

        • A black roof would look just fun. Dark blue might look really sharp too.

I’m a nerd as well. I’ve got a few series I’ve watches countless times now, like Arrested Development, Firefly, Futurama, etc. Good times.

        • See I was going to make the walls dark blue of café corner (I think you gave me that idea)but last night as I was working on that second level I blew a brain fuse.

Oh and this weekend we got some frozen chocolate covered banana’s from an organic grocery store. Gonna open up a stand. Might be some money in it.
