Zombie Cliché Lookout:
Most of us were raised with a pretty good sense of what is an isn’t appropriate to say. Most likely, we follow the Golden Rule of “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you”, although some of us may take this beyond the logical extreme when we’re trying especially hard to be politically correct. It’s usually pretty simple to follow, but sometimes we find ourselves in situations where appropriateness is just another part of the uncharted territory we’re going through. Figuring out how to talk to a friend who is gradually turning into a flesh eating monster would probably be one of those times.

  1. Well Dave I remember a few strips ago you want to bring Clark back and well heres how hold a contest and the wining strip gets to be featured on the comic. Maybe episode 150 or 151?

    • A contest for that isn’t a bad idea. Unfortunately there two problems:
      1. I just shot episode 151 last night.
      2. I pretty much know how Clark is coming back now.

That said, I really like the idea of a contest deciding something in the comic. That’s going in the idea bin.

      • I was thinking of a similar idea for a Zombie Outbrick contest. Maybe I will have to email you sometime, Dave, so we can swap contest ideas.

        • I sit in an office in front of a computer five days a week. I’m always up for interesting email conversations.

        • “I sit in an office in front of a computer five days a week. ”

It’s horrible isn’t it? I would have killed for such a thing once upon a time but now its torture even with unlimited internet use.

        • It certainly doesn’t do my health and general energy levels any favors, I’ll tell you that much.

        • Funny you say that…energy levels and health due to sitting all day has been a major topic of concern and discussion in my household. I have recently made some changes and am already feeling better.

        • It’s a killer. When I first started working five and half years ago I put on weight and felt like crap. Going from a fair active job to a completely sedate one was a hell of an adjustment.

        • Yeah…on the belt loop.

          :/

        • Man you got that right. I’ve never been what you might call “trim” to begin with, so the extra desk job weight was not appreciated.

        • Hah, email sent, Dave. 😉

  2. Hahaha I actually loled this strip 😀

    • That’s fantastic. Every now and then I can’t resist trying to be funny in this strip. I’m glad to know that – at least in this case – I succeeded.

  3. No one has heard the Nurse yet? Or will be the Nurse comes out and freaks because Jeff is the first one she sees?

    • This might be a setup for the nurses arrival, or maybe she’s in some other wing of the hospital…

  4. Haha, zombies used to be people too! 😉

I think being “politically correct” doesn’t seem terribly important in a zombie-apocalypse setting, but in this particular case, it most certainly is. After all, you’re trying not to offend a zombifying-yet-stil-sentient guy with a chainsaw! Never a good idea.

Great use of the hazmat face. (Also, in the cliché, I’m fairly certain that’s it’s “do unto others,” not “onto.” 😉 )

    • Um, they prefer to be “decomposition-concurrent undead cranial consumers,” or “DCUCCs.” Also pronounced “De-KUKs.” Show some respect or they’ll chew your face off.

      • What’s this the Sympathetic Zombie Community over here?

        • This conversation is fantastic.

          I love “De-KUKs”. Perfect!

        • Not sympathy, just a show of respect until I can find the boomstick secreted in my hockey bag.

      • We should all be very polite towards people whose one goal is to consume us all.

Never mind. Get the chainsaw instead.

    • I went back and for on onto/unto. Of course I picked the wrong one.

Of course two seconds of Googling could have solved that problem for me.

      Fixing it now.

  5. Yeah don’t take the mick out of the zombie with the chainsaw lol. Are we going to be seeing any chainsaw action in the next few strips Dave?

    • Checkov’s chainsaw rule is probably in effect.

      • Sorry what’s the rule?

        • It’s Checkov Gun, actually. If you show a gun in the first act of a play, you damn well sure better use it by the third.

        • Lol

  6. What we just witnessed was the opening salvo of the Zombie Civil Rights Movement. Next thing you know they will want to vote!

    stupid nomenclature’s…….

    • What do we want?
      Braains!
      When do we want it?
      Braaains!

      • That’s a great picture, by the way.

        • In my Flickr stream? Hah, thanks!

        • Don’t forget dude…..Dave is bad at MOCS…

*raises eyebrow and makes dice tossing motion*

        • Well that one isn’t much of a MOC; just some zeds standing in front of a standard LEGO set.

        • Do you have a close up of those police figs in that not-a-moc?

        • I don’t, but they’re pretty simple figs:
Face with black balaclava and ski goggles
          Standard police uniform torso
          Black legs
          Brickforge clear roman shield
Brickforge black nightstick and military helmet

        • Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh I see. Thats basically what I decided to do with something…so the ski goggles fit under that helmet. Ok.

I was trying to decide betwen gray and black balaclava heads. I was going to go with grey since brickforge is on 4 month back order of black nightsticks and have plenty of steel ones.

        • ???? Where is it I don’t see it…

        • Here you go

        • Ha ha ha that’s pretty funny nice work.

    • The Undead Union announced today they are going on strike due to unfair treatment.

      Millions rejoice.

      • There’s a pretty clever short story in there somewhere.

      • How’d the announcement go? Something like, “Ruh ah grh ah mrgh…”
        (“We are going on strike…”)

        • Speaking of U.A. working on a script for the U.A. (Undead anyomous) commercial. In the scripting stage right now hope to get to filming soon…

        • Sounds awesome, Tyzan

        • First line might be something like “Uh-oh you ate your friends brains again.”*Zombie looks up at camera*Zombie:”Urr?”*Shows picture of microscale meeting place*”Come on down to undead anyomous!”*Cuts to footage of line of zombies and amored guard infront of door*”All zombies are are permitted.”*shows 3 normal zombes walk by* *then some huge zombies walks by* *guard*”AAAAAAAHHHHH!!!!!!”

Oh and Dave I click on the ads (then minimize it until I get off) so You can raise the prices a little if you want.

        • The ads are priced by highest bidder, not by click through rate. That said, people will bid more on ads that are getting clicks, at least that’s what I assume.

        • ^ yes…

Something like…Unique IP clicks over x/time…

Google Analytics is one of the greatest mysteries known to modern man.

        • btw…you’ve done countless times better than I did tuning your ads to content. I worked so hard at custimizing that and failed in epic fashion. I spent hours and hours on it. My end result was one set of ads featuring videos for “WW2 Air Combat Dogfights” and another for “Gay Pride Wedding Rings”

The weddings right bit I ended up leaving on for a few days telling people it was due to GATC capturing their browser history. Many lols were had.

          Ah….nerd comedy. : )

        • I just laughed out loud at what happened with your ads, zombiemutts!

          What site was this on?

        • It was a Mixed Martial Arts site.

If I recall a few years ago it was called AD-Sense before google changed it to Google Analytics…2006 or so. It was hard to tweak and so I had it trying to read all these damn keywords in my header coded above my banner like where the Bricksofthedead.com logo is.

Well two organizations caused the gay pride add…one was called “PRIDE” and the other was called “RINGS”…HAH…..they were Japanese MMA organizations like the UFC if you have ever heard of it.

          http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RINGS
          http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fedor_Emelianenko#Pride_Fighting_Championships

There is no greater hell than running a sports site. All the work you do is worthless under the news cycle and gets old so fast. And theft of stories, un-credited, is all over the place.

        • I’m pretty sure it’s still called AdSense (I was banned from it years ago because someone kept clicking on my ads – dozens of times a day).

Analytics is Google’s site metrics software. Shows you traffic and whatnot. Analytics and AdSense play well together though.

        • Oh I see….so Ad Sense is the one you could either point to ads via your content or users browsing history?

All of that was above my head. I was trying to get all of that down with SEO plug-ins…bah…..

        • Well there’s a bit more to it than that. Ad Sense has two parts: advertisers and publishers. Publishers can rent out space on their site and that works the way you’re thinking.

The advertising aspect is more complex, because the advertiser can buy space not only on people’s websites, but they can also bid on keywords in Google searches (called Search Engine Marketing or SEM).

I’ve done a few campaigns for clients. It’s a lot of work and I didn’t see a huge payoff in traffic. Some people swear by it, though.

        • hmm…..soo….I could have spent all that time doing that and for whatever reason I had picked something that ran within a limited possibilities of ads? So basically I was trying to get sports DVDS, clothes etc but for whatever reason I was wasting my time trying to tweak something that didn’t even cover those areas?

        • That I’m not sure about. I’ve never done much of anything as a publisher on account of getting banner a month or two after signing up.

        • Ok…see I was easily able to get banners up linked to whoever but I was killing myself trying to get content specic ads done automatically by google. Basically like…”I want google to read my site and display ads in these dimensions in a specified spot.” Worthless trash anyway. They looked awful but I was dead set on doing it.

        • Ah yes google them seem to screw up every site they buy…I’M TALKING TO YOU GOOGLE STOP MESSING WITH YOUTUBE!!!!

        • Yeah! And they messed up that other site they bought, too!

Oh wait, which one was that again?

          😉

  7. Anyone else always think of Bill Clinton when they see this?

    • *This grey haired guy…

dammit I always post first read second…

      • Yeah, otherwise that’d be a pretty vague question!

Now that you mention it, I scrolled back up to look at him, and you know how sometimes, you just read things on-sight, without necessarily meaning to? Well, I happened to read Ted’s dialogue again, and it came out in my head sounding like Bill Clinton. (That doesn’t make me weird, does it? 😉 )

    • Crap, now I do too.

      • He’s uh… uh… Bill Clinton’s stepbrother. All the same genes, none of the flirting with coworkers. Yet.

        • Cheryl….blue dress mini-fig torso….hand Ted a cigar tube….

takes this comic to the next level

  8. ECC? Exhumed Corpse Commitee?
A zombie carry on? : Carry On Moaning?

  9. I wonder if Jeff there has anything to say about his slow zombification process? If he’s becoming a zombie, maybe he can leave the group some important clues for later analysis. It would help them at least become familiar with what happens to infected people.

    • Some good thoughts here. The news crew doesn’t seem terrible perceptive though.

  10. HOLY CRAP DID YOU FEEL THAT EARTHQUAKE?!?!Just a question…

    • I didn’t here (Detroit) but it’s on the local news and a lot of people did.

      • Weirdist part was I was fixing up one of my lego sets and The quake hit the ground was shaking and after it was over the Legos were still standing They had’nt moved!!!!Holy crap those studs are strong!I did’nt feel much here (Allentown P.A. nearly 200 miles from the center Wow.) but it was enough to shake my couches and screw up my internet,TV and phone service for a little.
Umm…..The local news went away….Strange…Just went black out of nowhere.
