Zombie Cliche Lookout: Pressure Release

Once again I’m tapping into a non-zombie cliche for this one, but I still think it works. People in movies yell. They yell a lot, or at least a lot more than the people I know, and I know some pretty loud people. They scream particularly loud and often when something bad happens. When they get screwed over by the bad guy. When their scheme doesn’t work. When a loved one dies.

And what, you might ask, do they scream? Excellent question. There are a lot of popular choices. Shouting the bad guy’s name is always a fun one. “Mendoooooza!” springs rapidly to mind (from The Simpsons, and probably a few other things). Another popular choice is simply yelling “No”, with bonus points for drawing it out to a ridiculous degree. Need an example, watch the last execrable Star Wars prequel, Revenge of the Sith. Or actually, don’t watch it. It’s awful.

Ahem, sorry.

Finally, yelling the name of your deceased loved one is a good way to show your simultaneous grief and rage. You know, if you’re into that sort of thing.

About this Episode:

Well, this is the end of our Sam flashbacks. It’s been quite a ride. Well, I think so anyway. I’m really happy with how the story came out here, and I hope it changed some of your perspectives on Sam. For you flashback haters, don’t worry, this is the last one for a while.

Discussion Question: Who’s Next?

We’ve been focusing on Sam for quite a bit now (and he’s got a few more episodes to round out his arc), but it’s going to be time to switch to another set of characters soon. So the natural question is, who does everyone want to see and why? Stewart and Cheryl? Barb, Ted, and Murphy Clark (Oops, Murphy isn’t with those guys)? Let me know.

  1. I would like to see the two groups of characters you mentioned cross each other’s paths. Perhaps you sholdn’t join together their teams immediately, I’d like to see what their reactions to each other are first! 😀

So far, we’ve mostly seen what their reactions to zombies have been, but how will they react to other groups of survivors? 😉

    • Excellent question, although Stewart and Cheryl have both met Clark before.

      • You were asking me what question, so here goes..
What if a scientist experiment went wrong? Strange mutation this time? What would happen?Zeds with remarkable speed and strength?
Crawlers(I got this idea from black ops) with long claws and with the ability to climb walls?Zeds with poison bombs growing on them and the Know How on how to use them? If so, HUMANITY IS DOOOOOMED!!!!

On the episode: AW man, Dave,I thought Sarah would cut in half with snake guts and blood all over.BUT NO, INSTEAD YOU JUST MAKE HER LIE ON THE GROUND FACE DOWN WITH NO BLOOD, WAITING FOR SAM TO DISCOVER THAT SHE IS DEAD???? HUH?? HHUUHH???

        • Sorry about that, it’s just the weekend making me hyper. HYPER, I TELL YOU!!!!
Also what’s this new lego movie on? Its name is Man Of Plastic. Trailer’s on youtube.

        • Also, what about zombies with super jump?

  2. Um, whose group is Ted in anyway? Wasn’t one of them zombiefied during a siege with some escaped prisoners? 😉

    • Ted was shot and then zombified and killed the bandit leader.

      • That was Gene, actually. Ted is alive and well, reunited with his wife and kids.

  3. Barb, Ted and Murphy…Barb just became a badass and I want to see more 🙂

    • She certainly did.

  4. I don’t think Dexter would agree on the spatterpatron…. but always think of this as a cool effect 🙂

There are a lot of screams of grief in movies and series and I hate them all (with a few exceptions maybe), they always annoy me. I guess this annoyance comes forth out of the fact that I’m the “suffer-in-silence-type”. Next time somebody shouts like this in a Zombie-movie/series I hope they attract a hoard of Z’s and he/she gets in real trouble… ahum… 😉

I would like to see Stewart again. mainly of the practical reason (i’m a very practical guy) that I don’t remember their storyline that good anymore, and with the others I do. That means it’s been too long 🙂

    • Hah, well I can’t claim my comic is forensically accurate.

Excellent point about screaming bringing on the zeds. If someone were mad enough, that might be half the point.

  5. I think it would be great if we got back to Barb, ted and murphy. Im kind of curious about ted’s family and the house they are holed up in. Or simply whats going on outside. Perhaps Dave could introduce another protagonist that appears rarely and is normally on his/her own just looting and staying one step ahead of the groups.

    • Yeah, they’re in quite a tight spot at the moment. Do they try to get out, or simply hole up and hope for the best?

  6. Wait a second, what about all of Sam’s coworkers? We haven’t seen any of them zombified and a few panels around, there was a room full of them. Where did they all go?

    • We may or may not see them again.

      • I think we should see them again … They’ve found a nice safe spot with plenty of food which is tighter than Fort Knox and there are a million zombies outside just waiting for one of them to make a mistake! 😉

  7. You’ve made me cry Dave.

    • Sorry, Fox. Sadface.
