There’s a lot of zombie stuff out there, and most of it is crap. People like to jump on bandwagons and produce quick tie-ins rather than investing love and effort into their creations. Luckily for you, I’m here to help separate the wheat from the chaff. Check back every Friday, when I’m going to share the coolest zombie-related creation I can find out there on the web.

This week’s creation, “Anti-Zombie Tank on Wheels” by PhilMa’, covers something I usually don’t get into: zombie defense vehicles. It’s not that I don’t like the Mad Max-styled vehicles, it’s just that’s I generally get more excited about seeing individual survivors trying to get by on foot. But sometimes I see an anti-zombie vehicle I just have to show off:

Zombies beware

Pretty cool, right? Here are a couple more shots:

Just the anti-zombie tank. New mans.

As always, there’s a lot to like about this creation. I really like that you can still parse out what the original, pre-modification vehicle looked like. The guns and armor added by the survivors are done in a fairly realistic manner. I also really like that they’re trailing bait, and that they have a man on the ground with a chainsaw cleaning up any zombies who manage to survive the rest of the carnage. Is it over the top? Absolutely. But it’s still fun.

On the downside, the weapons are just a little too advanced for a rag tag group of survivors (my favorite kind). They could be military, but the vehicle’s build doesn’t really suggest that. There’s a bit of dissonance between those two elements, but still, it’s great because it’s fun. Don’t think about it too much.

Have you seen a great zombie-related creation out on the web? Are you working on the next great zombie MOC as we speak? Well you had better let us know right away, otherwise we’ll never be able to include it here.

  1. did he happen to post instructions?this would look great in a lego movie of mine…that’s a secret project i can’t tell you about…yet……let’s pretend i never typed anything but the question ok?ok.it loooks great and high tech maybe theye are’nt a rag tag groub maybe their a highy prepared waiting-for-this-my-whole-life kinda survivors.anything else i wanna say…nope that’s it(i bet a few minutes aer i think of something and i ill be like “CRAP”)wow this took a LOOOOOOONG time to type and what not…mainly because i am looking around on bricklink.

    • I didn’t see any instruction, but you could always contact the person who made it and ask how it was done.

  2. I started doing a zombie defense vehicle and got bored with it half way through and turned the scene into something else…

    ^ have a look.

    • I saw that one on Flickr and thought it was great. Very meta.

      • Thanks Dave. Thats exactly what I was going for.Obviously I am still working on lighting with these things.

Back to this creation…outstanding work on the smoke.

        • The ice cream smoke never doesn’t make me smile. It just works so well, but then you think about what those pieces are supposed to be. It’s great.

  3. cool

    • Isn’t it, though? I’d love to see this thing in action, destroying zombies by the dozen.

  4. I love how the survivors are lined up for a group photo. Looks like something you’d see in the company breakroom! hahahahahahahaha

    • Hah, I can see that.

It reminds me of war photographs. I thought it was really cool.

  5. I do like the defended vehicle and the hazmats, but hazmat suits are expensive and would rip easily on the nearest rough surface. But overall a great MOC and a fantastically ‘extemporised’ model!

    • They would rip easily. Definitely better to use in areas without big zed populations.

  6. And has anyone else noticed the dashboard toy? See it closely in picture 3!

    • Hah, I totally hadn’t noticed it. Good spot.
